First of all I love the sounds of these with Vance and Hines dresser duals. I have been running auto tune from my power vision to try and get rid of the random popping on decel. It has worked for the most part besides a few pops here and there.
My main issue is cleaning the damn things. I have the standard tips and the chrome on the inside tip of the pipe turns hazy and is a bitch to clean after about 50 miles. I have to constantly scrub them to keep the chrome shiny. Does anyone else have this problem?!?!?
I think your fighting a losing battle if your trying to keep the inside chrome clean. Just wipe the outside down and let the inside build up a nice layer of carbon. I guess that's another positive with the Rineharts black tips!
Well the inside turns black as exhaust flows through it. I have the same pipes and wipe them out about 1 time a month. But, I don't bother trying to keep the inside of the exhaust tip perfect as I realize that it never will stay that way unless I don't ride the bike.
I use turtle wax chrome polish inside and out on my Cfr's. So far they clean up real easy. Trying to keep the inside clean was the deciding factor on me getting the smooth tips.
I have the fluted tips on mine with the same issue. After every other longer ride I use the Mother's Powerball at the end of my drill and a very mild cleaner. After 2 seconds on each pipe and they shine like new (even the fluted grooves). You can pick one up at any auto part store or online.
