mine makes a chirping sound in synch with the engine/exhaust when on roads with the traction cuts in them. Pay attention next time to the surface of the road, and see if it seems to happen more on the concrete roadways with the slits, and not so much if on asphalt. I have confirmed this multiple times on my rides.

Thanks guys for all the insight. It definitely does not sound like a rock hitting a can. It is likely so,etching simple I'll just have to hunt down.

Appreciate the insight. I can sleep a little better and will update with any further findings.

I've developed a bit of squeaky chirp and "think" it may be a dirty drive belt. Not RPM driven but it's annoying too.

If you have any noises at idle start tightening the covers on your pipes the hose clamps are a good place to start, then then the rubbers on the muffler hangers need replacing.

Just last week I was riding with a buddy and his bike was making the same exact noise.. you couldn't really hear it unless you were riding behind him or he went next to a barrier.. Turned out his baffle was loose inside of his pipe and was making noise..

Just a thought

Likley your top front motor mount.
Remove it and drop it in a pan of oil,
work in the oil, wipe off and reinstall.
