I was on my way to work yesterday morning, coming over a heavy construction area bridge, the truck and trailer in front of me stopped rather quick due to some idiot in front of him, as I slowed down and was just about to put my foot down when fully stopped the idiot (nice words from what I really said) behind me slammed into the rear of my Ultra (I heard a split second of tire squeal) and forced my and my bike onto the car hauler in front of me, sending me flying off the right side and onto the road barrier. I snapped this pic within a minute of getting to my feet. The bottom of the trailer was at least 12" high. Bike is at dealer now getting checked over. I was lucky to walk away and drive the bike to my shop less than a mile away. If it had been a semi trailer or another vehicle, the outcome would have been a lot worse. Her excuse was the sun blinded her. I gotta say, these bikes have a strong rear section. Damage I could see was front and rear fender, rear turn signal, scrapes on right side from sliding on trailer. I told the dealer to price both tires due to them slamming into the metal trailer, there has to be belt damage internally. We'll find out today what they say. Back is sore and scrapped up my left knuckes when landing on road barrier. Going to doctors tomorrow to get checked out. Was tailgated last week, lady on the phone and on my s$$. WTF is wrong with these idiots?????
Here is another angle of the bike where it landed, and a picture of the rear of the trailer that it was forced up onto. Her hood hit right at the bottom of the tour pack, and I'm assuming the lower part of her bumper hit my rear fender.
I'd be very surprised if a smart phone was not in her hand! That's what is nailing most of us now! Glad you're ok. Like you said, could have been a lot worse.
We blocked traffic for a good 15 minutes till cops could get through, I jumped into the truck with the guy and we drove to a shell station a hundred yards up the road. One cop was looking at the back of my bike after we (4 of us) got it stood up and walked off the trailer, he said "I don't see where she even hit you" I said, "well I sure as fk didn't drive it up onto the trailer myself" Not to mention on the accident report, there is a spot for est damages, for the police to fill in, says her vehicle is $1000 damage and my bike is $200. YEAH RIGHT!
Glad your ok!!!As auto manufactures put more and more things in the car to fiddle with, navigation, touch screen radios, on board information about fuel, car status, ect. The more distracted drivers become, nope didn't forget the phones, that's just a given, too many things for some folks to handle and drive a car responsibly at the same time.
