Good to hear your ok rider, oobviously make sure you write your full version and have attached to the police report, sounds like she was a hottie and you had swine authorities.
Just got an email from the adjuster, said the appraiser said the bike is going to be a total loss. What all does this mean, I'm going to take it in the a$$ on what they say it's worth, or was worth? 2007 with 20k on it. KBB says $13,960. NADA Says average is $14,641. This just fkn sucks. Just spent $483 on tax and title work in this lovely state last month when I got it.
I don't get something (thick headed probably). The bike is worth $14 something, and the repair estimate is $7 something, why is it a loss? Is this your adjuster talking or the dumb a$$'s adjustor? Sounds like some arm wrestling is in order, or maybe have one of the attorney's wrestle for you. Sounds like it is maybe NOT so open and shut.
Subscribed to hear this thru to the end, and wish you a ton of luck (tho seeing how you came out physically, you have some luck going for you).
Total loss value is the Book value minus the salvage value and that is your total loss line. $14k bike, most HD bring 50% salvage at auction or more so a $7k estimate will total the bike.
So its cheaper for the insurance company (I work for em) to pay the book value and sell the bike at a salvage auction. If its not to bad they may get 70% at auction and they are only at $4k or so on a $14k bike. Comprenday?
You can make it up on an injury claim if you are hurt. You cam message me with questions.
We blocked traffic for a good 15 minutes till cops could get through, I jumped into the truck with the guy and we drove to a shell station a hundred yards up the road. One cop was looking at the back of my bike after we (4 of us) got it stood up and walked off the trailer, he said "I don't see where she even hit you" I said, "well I sure as fk didn't drive it up onto the trailer myself" Not to mention on the accident report, there is a spot for est damages, for the police to fill in, says her vehicle is $1000 damage and my bike is $200. YEAH RIGHT!
Wow. Man I am glad you are ok. As a NC native from Cabarrus Co, I remember when Mooresville was just a little town on the way to lake Norman. No Longer. That area is grown up and everyone can tell by your pictures, road construction is everywhere and it is never finished. That is bad enough and most of us deal with that plus the fact that the idiots are out there tailgating and not looking where they are going. The idiots can sure ruin a good ride and a good day.
Thank god you're ok. I agree the frame and forks are probably bent too. I wonder if the dealer doesn't list it as bent, when it goes to salvage they will sell it as good? Not that it matters.
Well, here is the update. Picked up the check from ins. agency yesterday and went to their bank to cash it right away. They paid me nada value plus $350 loss of use and a little more since I just paid for title and taxes a month ago. Going to look at another 2007, this one is one owner with less miles (mine had 20k this one has 13k) and a lot of goodies my stock one didn't have but were on my list to buy, and still have money left in my pocket. Then there is still the pain and suffering part of the claim. Gonna wait another week and see how my back is feeling and hip is a little sore also. If all is good with me, I'll hit them up on that portion. I have no idea what to ask for or what they'll even pay. But having a sore back and going through all this bs has to be worth something.
Picked up the replacement bike yesterday. 2007 with only 12k on it. Bought from original owner. He has installed the ids, full s&s exhaust system, true duals. Xeids installed, s&s air cleaner assy, tons of extra chrome, forks, all gauge trim, mirrors, controls, switch covers, quick release lowers, adj drivers backrest, vented lower fairing deflectors, oil cooler. I'm sure I'm forgetting things. Shorty antennas, tour pack bags. Very nice bike for the price. Which after ins. check still have money in my pocket even after taxes and title work. Now I have to deal with the pain and suffering part of it.
