Same thing with mine. The Road King emblem would be upside down. I think the emblem is just glued on so I may see if I can remove the emblem and just glue it back down right side up. No fingernails will be involved in this process though. LOL

Sorry you inferred that I was saying you were lying. I just meant I thought something else happened to cause the scratching. Of course there would be no reason to lie about something so trivial. I do agree that once chrome is scratched it is permanent. I offer my apologies.

I am wondering if the glue on the back of the sticker, having been on there for so many years, in some way adversely affected the hardness of the chromium layer under the sticker? Ten years is a pretty long time, then add to that the engine heat that could have contributed to the chemical or molecular changes between the glue and the surface. Dunno.

No worries,it's all good. I was as surprised as anyone when I saw the scratches.

That's possible. Irritating that the mother ship puts the darn warning stickers on there to begin with. I guess some corporate attorney told them it was necessary in our litigious society. Kinda like a warning label on the exhaust that the surface gets hot !
