Ride it awhile, you put a ton of $ in your last bike to make it yours so it's not surprising the stock 14 is not making it for you. You'll have to put a ton of cash in that one for it to fit you like the other. If after you've done the obligatory seat, bars and pipes it's still not right then think on a trade. My council is to wait or your enabling the insanity that can overtake us all, IF you let it.
But when you loose a sweetheart, it takes a while to get over it. The new bike is not better or worse, just different. It may grow into a new sweetheart, but not if you are always pining for the old sweetheart.
You have to ask yourself, are you an old dog who cannot learn new tricks, or are you just relishing the memories until you make enough with this new one.
Two many trades and trials can leave you weary, worn out on the whole process. Do a careful analysis of what you like and don't like about the new bike. Some you can live with, some your can change, and some will become the new norm and hold your heart when it is time to change again. The grass is not always greener on the other side, but if you move over, don't look back at either ride, teach yourself to look forward.
But being crazy is good, because it means those old feelings are strong. Use them as a building block, not as an anchor.
The recently wrecked my RK and the dealer thought that I was crazy for NOT wanting a Rushmore bike. I stood my ground (even left a deal on the table ) but I got exactly want I wanted for the price that I wanted to pay. Aren't we all a little crazy?
Crazy....well yes, welcome to our world.
Traded an '09 Ultra (great bike) for a '14 RK and everyone said I'd be sorry, including a friend at the dealership, and that I would miss all the features of the Ultra.
Well, I'm lovin it, and have no regrets, so do your homework and be happy!
What is it exactly that you don't like the newer bike?
Bunch of little things or one big thing?
Not as comfortable because of suspension changes?
Hate the radio?
You gotta be happy with what your riding but I think your crazy to trade to a 2011. Add a ultra seat, 13" shocks, and a taller windshield to your 14 and you will have the comfort of the 11 ultra with the better handling of the 14 and it will cost you much less.
