Default HD Compass

Hi Folks,

I am thinking about removing the useless air temp gage from my Road Glide and installing the HD compass. Has anybody installed one? If so, is it worth the money, and how hard is the installation, knowing that the outer fairing needs to come off?

I don't want to replace one useless gage with another.

Thanks,
Kar

I would rather have an oil temp gauge to go with the pressure gauge than a compass...get the GPS instead...

I thought aboutt the compass for a little bit and ended up with the GPS instead.

Pilot:

what kind of GPS did you end up with and how do you like it?

I have the HD quest. After looking at one of the other members, I would go with the Garmin Quest or Quest II if I had it to do over...they are the same unit...but you're not paying Harley tax.

Quest II has the detailed map of the entire US in it preloaded.

The only thing about the HD unit is that it has all the HD shops preloaded...I like the feature a lot.

I'm having trouble with the cradle right now, but it is being replaced under warrantee. If you go with the quest unit, you won't have this piece, but something else close to it.

Great suggestion! I'll look into the GPS and the oil temp gage.

Thanks

Did both and am very happy!!

Only one thing is that the Harley Temp gauge kit is a pain in the butt to install the temp sensor..

The oil nipples on my bike did not allow enough room to install the temp gauge elbow. I had to screw them in further just so it would all go together.

I recommend that you get the factory type hose clamps and the crimper for a better job. Screw clamps suck, but you have to use them for the one further back. I also removed both hoses to get the job done right.
