Compensator Stress
Ive asked this before but I don't think my question was clear. Let me try again. What part of the operation of the bike is the hardest on the compensator? From start up to shut down what activity(s) causes the majority of wear, and are there ways to mitigate stress on this component? (Besides not riding the bike.)

Lugging, as the splashed oil does not match the bearing load. The clutch has to throw oil up onto the compensator. If your engine in purring, your clutch is spinning fast enough to throw oil and your compensator is happy.
But really I do not know, I was told this and it made enough sense to me that I make sure I add 38 ounces and not one quart as the Harley mechanic told me was "OKAY".
