Even though it`s only made it to 100* here in Oklahoma, for some reason the wind disappeared. This is highly unusual for here, but it will probably change in another 24 hours. Meanwhile, back at the traffic light......
Hydration vest under a mesh jacket and bicycling shorts under jeans. Works for me.
California to Scottsdale and then Scottsdale north wasn't a problem.
Hmm! I bicycle in the morning and never gave it a thought to use my bike shorts on the motorcycle. `Gotta try that. Thanks!
I am willing to ride in a Tshirt, but don't want to give up a helmet. I went to a Bell 500 for warmer days, instead of my HJC FF, but over 80 is hot. Yesterday, it was 88 and my head felt like a baked apple. The fatigue from the heat definitely reduced my riding ability.
Anybody recommend a 3/4 helmet that has good ventilation, removable liners, and is under $250?
I just received a new 3/4 open face helmet from Leather UP. Two face shields and vents but I just got it and haven't rode with it yet. Cost $94 including shipping and when I tried it on it was very comfortable.
I now have 2 beanies, one DOT approved 1/2 helmet, one 3/4 and one full face for cold winter riding only.
I don't understand how people can ride when it's hot wearing a full face helmet.
Leaving to Phoenix 2 hydration vest 3 cool bandannas 2 skull cooler pads for under helmet soaked for a while then stored in the fridge, before taking off everything in the ice box on the back seat with lots drinks to hydrate including water sport drinks and few coconut water bottles (which works best in the super hot weather) ice chest weighs about 40 lbs. I also soak my 2 pairs of Home depot all purpose gloves in ice water and pour some ice water on the Harley seat pad it all helps for little over hour and half then roughed it out till next stop.
If you encounter stop and go traffic, just split the lanes. If you get a ticket, paying it is less painful than sweating yourself to death in the heat.
Thankfully, splitting lanes is not illegal in CA. 106 deg. today. I commute and wear the leathers. I'm fine as long as I'm moving.
Just got back from 1250 miles trip to visit my kids in Phoenix area it wasn't too bad I was overly prepared as you can see my last post here I end up using only half of my supplies but bike looks like went thru hell darn dust storms and monsoon rain was my bigger enemy then the heat.
