I have a 2011 Flhtk and as I am getting older my ears are less tolerant of loudness. If the lowers are removed does that lessen the exhaust sound reaching the rider? Thanks.
No...it does not reduce the sound. You can find a different set of pipes, that are quieter. Do a search for pipes...you can check YouTube to hear some pipes.
Thanks Ed,
I have the stock exhaust and believe it or not I would like it even quieter if possible. It would be fine with me if I didn't hear the exhaust at all. Probably not going to happen but thought I'd ask.

look for a set of stock takeoffs from the cvo bikes. because the 110 engine is inherently louder than the 103, they seem to be baffled a little more.
and do you still have the original headpipe with catalytic converter?
