It's reduced the wind buffeting to a gentle breeze, be it I'm doing 20 mph or 80 mph. It's tapered towards the top, making it easy to see around if I wish or need to. Reflection into the shield from the console is nonexistent up in the area I look through. I am very happy with this windshield.
I recently traded my '12 Heritage for a '12 RK. On the Heritage, my eyes were above the top of the windshield (which I prefer). The RK shield though is higher and I see thru the shield. I just went out and measured it. 20". Do you know if this is the stock shield? If so, I may look into getting a shorter one. Sorry for the hi jack.

Good luck on the 22.
Yes, 20" is the stock height. I just ordered a 17" for mine.
You can get a Memphis Shade 17" replacement here for $87. Check to make sure it fits the '12, it fits my '03

Yes, 20 is stock height. Where your eyes are in relationship to the top is a function of your body and the seat. For me, the stock 20" had the top edge right in the center of my field of vision. Slouch and I looked under, sit up straight and tall, I'd look over it. Sounds good, but in fact was quite distracting. In no small part due to the slight optical difference of the view through the shield vs over the shield. Wind was rather calm, but certainly not as calm as the taller 22" shield.
I cut the 20" shield down to ~17". Bad mistake, IMO. The head buffeting was strong, as was the noise. It also caused bugs to spin down onto my chest and into my helmet and shirt.
I'll get some pictures of the bike with the taller 22" shield later on today or tomorrow.
