New member with problems
topped the tank off and got it to start. I had to give it some gas to start, but it started and 3-5 seconds it cut off. Tried to start again and it wouldnt. Could it be the oil pump?

Gotta ask, did the oil light go off while you were riding it home, before it shut down on you?
You also haven't stated if it is carb'd or EFI. Necessary info. Different solutions depending on which. Although, you did mention the fuel pump comes on. That would indicate EFI...
Since the bike was on 'E', I would suspect dirty tank. Fuel filter could be plugged, water could have accumulated, etc. Use flashlight to look inside. If you, or your buddy, feel confident enough, pull the fuel filter/pump assembly. Check for clean filter, and cracked hoses. Many people have a problem with small pin holes in the fuel line, be sure all hoses are in good shape, and replace filter if necessary.
After that, diagnose electrical and fuel delivery system...
Forgot to mention, get a service manual. It will prove it's worth the first time you open it...

I just changed the fuel filter, added sea foam n 2 gallons of 91. Tank is about 3/4 full.
