Default Windshield Recommendations

I have an 05' Road King Classic. I do love the bike. I've put about 10,000 miles on it so far and I really do need a new windshield. When i first got it i had to get used to looking through the windshield as it's pretty tall, and I am only 5'8". I suppose i don't mind it much, but wondered if i should go with something shorter if i replace the windshield. It does have some chips, and some glazing that can be scene looking at it from a certain angle. I also wonder about wind buffeting. It definitely not bad now, but it almost seems as if i would be happier with a full fairing. I came home last night with a light jacket on, and the temps were in the mid to upper 50's maybe. My hands were cold, and i was a little chilly. I am happy with the RK, and know i can put a full fairing on it. I've ridden a SG, and i liked it, but i didn't ride it long enough to be able to really tell the big difference between the two. So... I don't know. Are there any solutions to my delema being that next summer i'll have the bike paid off and I might decide to upgrade so i'm not sure I want to spend much money on a windshield.

I have an LRS shield.
I like to look over the shield and I find that I get the least buffeting this way. The top of the shield is at my nose level when I am sitting on the bike. Personally I am not a big fan of the fairing on the streetglide just because it is mounted to the forks and not the frame. The trade offs were not worth it to me JMHO

Check out Freedom shields. Great product made here in the USA.

I have the Klock Werks billboard flare on my RK and absolutely love it. I am 5'8" as well and with a Mustang wide touring seat I can see over it OK. With my stock windshield I had to wear goggles because there was so much buffeting sunglasses bounced around like crazy and I could hardly see. The beard lift was still pretty bad though so I added the HD fork fangs and they have almost completely eliminated the beard lift. I am now sitting in a nice calm pocket of air

I have a shield on the way for my Street Glide(no help to you) from Long Ride Shields. They made me a great deal on a shield for my bike and talked me through the proper measurement process. It also says on their website that their shields are made in the USA. Code HDF20 gets you a 20% discount. www.longrideshields.com

I can't figure out why know one ever talks about F4 custom shields. I bought mine two years ago and it looks as clear now as it did when I bought it. I've put close to 40,000 miles in two years also. They are not any higher in price as anyone else. Maybe poor advertising has a lot to do with it. The only place I've seen them is at Daytona bike week, which is where I bought mine. They also make them for Road Kings now. They put the same scratch resistance material that is used on eye glasses. No need for Rain-X, water just blows off. And I'm not in any way connected with them. They just make the best long lasting shield I've ever used.

Another vote for Long Ride Shields. This is my 2nd bike I've used their windshields and couldn't be more pleased with the product and the company.

Individual perspective, but LRS gets my vote too!
