I have the Klock Werks billboard flare on my RK and absolutely love it. I am 5'8" as well and with a Mustang wide touring seat I can see over it OK. With my stock windshield I had to wear goggles because there was so much buffeting sunglasses bounced around like crazy and I could hardly see. The beard lift was still pretty bad though so I added the HD fork fangs and they have almost completely eliminated the beard lift. I am now sitting in a nice calm pocket of air
The oem shield is of excellent quality, and comparably priced. It's available in stock height, as well taller and shorter.
Rifle and a few others make windshields wider than stock. I've no personal experience with them, so I cannot say how the wind flow is from that extra width.
Freedom Shield is the best I have used and tried a bunch over the years. I have the 18" in dark tint and at 5'8" I can still see over the shield. It is thicker than others and has the air flip, also is a couple inches wider than stock shield.
Had a 07 Road King, I went with LRS 18 inch windshield and put on fork mounted wind deflectors.
That made my RK more comfortable to ride, and cut down on most of the buffeting. You
can contact LRS for the proper height.
Any windshield with a recurve that is the right height will do. The fork mounted deflectors are a great addition, and probably what you need.I only use them for longer rides.
