Yeah, you could put $4500 in xtras if you tried I suppose but the new Limited is pretty damn good right off the showroom floor. Some mufflers, an A/C, maybe upgrade the speakers, a few doo dads....think I dropped about $1k in xtras and called it good. Also surprised the dealer took it back but good for you.
I am truly surprised the dealer let you return the bike.........
Me too.
Although I believe the FTC has a rule that applies to every state in the United States when it comes to buyer's remorse. I think it's called three-day cooling-off period.
I wonder what happens if you do though. Technically the bike has been titled unless this period calls for that to be voided if you do return.
Theres no way I could tuck tail and go back to the dealer after I signed papers and shook hands and agreed to the terms. I would just suck it up and press on before I went back on my word and tarnished my name.
No offense to the OP but there are tons of people around the world that have no food, or are sick in a bed with no hope or dying a very slow death etc etc etc and we can't sleep at night because of stuff we can or can not afford to put on a motorcycle. I happen to know a few people like that. Wow, I think we have too much abundance.
its called being an american and living in the greatest place on earth in the history of our planet so i dont feel guilty when i cant sleep because i cant decide what restaurant i might want to eat at on the weekend. i know people who died for this right that i have and by golly im not gonna waste it or feel guilty . god bless America and the op for taking the 14 back
While at and event this past Saturday, I looked and rode a new 2014 Ultra Limited, the more beer I drank the braver I became. Trade in value on my 2012 Ultra Limited was fantastic, had to leave all the chrome, GPS and everything on it. So I signed the papers and rode away about 9:30 PM that night. Nice bike, Daytona Blue. Well when it came time to sleep, I couldn't was just thinking about how much I would spend dressing it up to look like my 2012. Ran some numbers in the middle of the night and figured I would put in a minimum of $ 4500 into the new one that I really don't have. And being the most inpatient person that would drive me crazy. Nothing wrong with my 2012 and the payment on the new one was $ 50 more per month besides adding 2 more years of payment.
SO, I returned it the next day, and slept like a baby that night... No remorse what so ever!
I usually don't respond this way on the forum but your post has several of the dumbest decisions I have ever heard on this forum. Drinking, riding, buying while drinking, and putting others at risk as you drove home DUI. Hope you are joking about all of this but returning the bike.
I thought when I purchased my bike the dealer explained some sort of 72 hour rule.. don't remember the specifics though.. but I think the jist of it was I could change my mind during that period.
I looked at a new Limited too. I have a 2012 model that I really like.
They've gone up over 4 grand in 24 months. Sorry, i can't see the value in them at around 28k.
I understood the cooling off period for in home sales only.
However I do know a signed contract is null and void when under the influence especially of the selling party is giving away the influence and therefore the contract in all 50 states could be void if pressed by an attorney.
In most states until the bike is registered with the state it is considered still new so I think the bike could be resold for new since it was never registered. Good thinking on the OP, don't just get what the banks think you can afford, get what you can easily afford especially in items of entertainment.
$4500.00 is a lot of mods to me, I couldn't spend that money with the thought that someone else would want them too and borrow my bike permanently.
The dealership was good to take the bike back, what is the dealership name, seems like they care about their customers and if they do you right, they will others and some day you will want another bike, more mods, whatever and I would go to them first if they did that for me.
I will say what most are thinking but won't say it, I call BS on this post. No fu**ing way is any dealer going to turn a new bike into a used bike and lose a couple Grand.
No dealer will let you out of a contract without litigation.
Post dealership info and I will repost with either an apology or further confirm this post is what I called out.
