I have a Scorpion half helmet with the pull down sunshade and recently bought the HD half with pull down sunshade and prefer the HD model. It is lighter, is more comfortable and I like the action on the shade better. Both about the same price as I recall.
I bought the HD half helmet a few years back and still like it. I believe it's made by HJC, a local metric shop has them on the shelf. Just got back from a 2,000 mile ride and the sun shield work as advertised. Also blocks some wind to prevent eye"tearing" if you suffer from that. My plans are to buy another one soon.
I second (or third) all the positive comments... it works really well for me. My daily wear glasses are too thick and I can't drop the visor, but my cheaper pair fits fine. There is no nose rub. I bought the HD one only because it fit me best - only two brands have traditionally fit me well in any style, HJC and Joe Rocket (and now HD). Of course, like another said, I think HJC makes all three.
I use the visor on the highway and it minimizes tearing and head shake. Back roads I seldom use it unless it's very buggy or rainy. I believe they sell multiple shades of the shields as well.
A few years back I picked up a Nolan 3/4 with clear shield n a pull down visor that is has very good tint...Its a DOT but the constuction inside kinda blows, but when riding with ANY and I mean ANY glasses it does not get in the way, adds the extra tint ya need on those long days of riding in the sun...I took the clear shield off and only use the pull down tinted visor.. The outside design is great but I am quite sure there are better out there..So stay away from them unless you don't really care about the inside, only thing good about it is the visor...But if your looking for sun protection it will work..Otherwise they blow and I would look elsewhere...
HJC does make some of the HD helmets. I have one that I like. Not heavily tinted, can be used after sunset. Like all lids, it does buffet some on the soft tails.
