Hey guys and gals,
Bought an '06 Street Glide which has the new Harmon Kardon stereo and speakers. I have such a bad rattle coming from the fairing that it really has become intolerable at times. The dealer changed the mirrors but the problem remained so I did my own investigating and couldn't find anything loose or rubbing anywhere. I then removed one of the speakers and shook it...it rattled like mad! I removed the other speaker (same rattle with that one too) and put the fairing back together for a test drive and the rattling was gone. Now, with the speakers back in, the rattle has returned. [:@] Anyone else have this problem? Is this just a coincidence and am I missing something obvious? The dealer is willing to replace the speakers but if I get the same exact ones that I have now it probably won't make a difference.
Sounds like a need for hogtunes speakers. They sound better than the Harley high performance speakers without the expense of the amp and they are only 99.00. www.hogtunes.com
You can't go wrong.
Thanks for the suggestions. I was at the dealer last night and had a chance to speak with a factory rep who just happened to be there on other business. I mentioned the speaker issue with him and he was very surprised to say the least. According to him the new speakers for the '06 models are leaps and bounds above anything Harley ever offered before--even the high performance set. Without hesitation he told the service manager to order a new pair and put them in. I guess I will allow them to do that since it won't cost a cent and then if I still have the problem I will switch to the hogtunes.
