JRI has changed the 13 B shock design from what is in their catalog and on Howard's website. The new design is on their website. Looks like fewer machining steps/cost savings. I went to mount them and they hit the quick detach hardware and stock chrome trim on my 2000 RK. I guess the new shocks require washers between them and the frame mounting point and swing arm for clearance even if those points are parallel. The shocks on Howard's site are the original design shown with the optional orange powdercoat. These had a double lock nut spring adjuster vs. a plastic tipped set screw on aluminum shock housing threads, smaller upper eyes, larger compression rebound adjuster, etc.
This is the new design I received. The photos show the springs with defects in the powder coat as they came from the factory, lack of quality control. Also, not that it matters but the anodizing on one shock was deep shiny black and the other more transparent matt finished along with some tiny nicks along the edge and the bottom eye machining from shock to shock did not match. Not what I expected from a pair of shocks with a retail price of $950.00!
I spoke to Howard and he and JRI will make it all good. He has not seen the new version in person, JRI shipped these direct. Simply stating what I found. BTW, Howards info on his site and what he emails after your purchase is very informative. You won't be a suspension guru however you will have a better understanding of the basics.
