Default Auto tuning with power vision

I recently installed a power vision on my 2013 sg that I purchased from fuel moto. They sent me a custom tune as they usually do for all there customers. The bike ran good, no decel pop or anything. So I had called and spoke with a guy at fuel moto (wasnt Jamie) but he suggested I go ahead and run a few auto tune sessions. So I have since ran a few short sessions (30 minute runs). I started the auto tune off of the fuelmoto map and then saved and flashed the a/t session map to the bike. I've save and flash the a/t sessions three times. The bike seems to run good but the a/t corrections where still significant even on the last session I ran. So my question is what exactly should I be looking for in the data log during the autotune sessions? I know the smaller the corrections the closer the tune is but how close am I looking to be before calling it good? I my last session the were still red areas In The autotune data log. Does this mean I need to continue running more sessions to get it closer?

I doubt you're ever going to get all the sections to turn green. It CAN be done...but it's difficult and you really have to know what you're doing on the throttle when you are auto tuning.

Generally speaking....keep running auto tune until you see a change of 4 or 5%. Again...you can get it lower than that, but it's generally considered close enough at that point. To get it any closer you really need to take it to a tuner that knows the PV.

There's a thread in the techincal forum that is about a million pages long that talks about the PV in detail. It goes back several years....start on the latter pages and do some reading. Good info there...

Ok I will go back to that thread..... I read like 20 pages but that's just the beginning of that thread. Kinda hard to read a million pages hoping to stumble across one specific peice of info.

I make data runs of an hour or two... sometimes three.

Back roads, the mountains were the best, but I don't live in them any longer.

I zoom the PV2 where I can only see a handful of zones, and the target is in the middle, versus seeing the whole map and the target jumping. I have been very successful at hitting all data zones with this method.

Now that I've got my tune where I want it, I need to learn how to improve it for fuel economy. My FLTRU tuned on TTS got 43mpg average, and one day, one tank... highway, I pulled 49. The FLHTK gets 35 or 36 at best.

I'm going to try that next time I get home. Any tips on running the throttle while you're auto tuning Chip?

Just out of curiosity, when you say you have 'red areas in the autotune data log', do you mean the first of the data screens that display when you're AT enabled? It's my understanding that this page is just the 'hit counter', the red cells are the ones that have been ridden in most - you'll see the number of hits in each cell as you ride, up to 99. You need to check the other screens that show the ą values that are actually being captured.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the way I understood the PV tuning...have I been doing mine wrong?

You are correct, I had a misunderstanding of what I was looking at. I was looking at a "hit" counter so red is good.

I wAs under the impression I was looking at afr data changes and thought red was a large change. Which made me think I needed to flash that tune to the bike and do it again. I am used to using a pcv with wideband o2 and when looking at the fuel table on it it actually shows the afr changes.

Now I understand the "hit" counter and I ran another a/t session today and it said my largest change was 7% so I'm getting closer. It helps to understand what I'm looking at....lol I'm sure I will have more questions but I'm getting there. It is harder to target the higher throttle position at high rpm boxes completed.

Just understand more throttle, higher MAP..., i.e. WOT will net around 100 MAP.

So the more twist you give, the more to the right on the chart, the more RPMs, the lower on the chart.

The "hard" zones are the upper right, high MAP, low RPM; and the lower left, low MAP, high RPM.

It takes a bit to "figure" it out, but if I can do it, anyone can...

I guess I need to explore a little when I get home...I've just been watching the "hit counter" page when I AT....

Thanks Chip...I'll try to get more green squares!
