The only place I like deers is in my plate!
Almost got hit by one last week... it happen so fast you barely have time to react.
Glad you're still with us.
When you survive you have a story to tell. When you don't, you become the story others tell. As the others have said, I'm glad you made it out alive and wish you a speedy recovery.
My deer story: (Briefly)
I hit a deer up near Tuolumne Meadows last year. Bent the crash bar and highway peg, and left hide and hair on my bike, but otherwise neither the deer nor I were too badly damaged. The couple in the car behind me saw the whole thing and were so shook up the lady was dabbing her eyes and drinking cold water even as I pulled away 20 minutes later. Apparently it looked a lot worse from their view. I count myself blessed to have come so close to disaster with so little difficulty. However, now if I tell another rider about it, I have to listen to their "animal strike" stories.
All the work put into the engine, it's a shame. glad you guys are okay. We had one stand in the middle of the Blue ridge Parkway stareing us down , it finally moved and last Thursday had one stroll across the road in front of us on the way to Grand Haven. This cool weather along the lake is keeping them moving. Get well and heal properly.
The bike is totaled.
Think I'll wait till spring for a new one.
I feel your pain.Wasn't a deer though was a four wheeled creature. It sucks when your on the ground hurting and look over and see your bike trashed.Hope you and the wife heal fast.Mine happened 7/25/14 and the rash is healing pretty good no broken bones but ribs and groin still sore
