Had the Touring Pullback handlebars installed on my 07 EG Classic. I had the installer lower them so my grip position would be similar to the position on my stock bars. These new bars are a little higher and the grip position is a little wider than the stock bars--plus, they do come back closer to the rider--I did not want any bend in my wrist due to the grip position being too high. They will takesome getting use to, but I think I am going to like them a lot when I adjust. I can now utilize my backrest without taking a hand off of the handlebar. I was developing a shooting pain down the lower part of my left arm from my arm being so stretched on the long trips. Now there is some bend in my arms. I am taking a trip this weekend that will give me a good test of the new setup. I also had the polyutherene bushings installed. They reduced the vibration in the bars at idle to the point that I can now see in my rearview mirrors at idle. I also had the Harley oil gauge installed where the air temp gauge was, since they were already in the faring doing the bars. I included some pics.
Looks good, Alvin. I'm curious...are you of a shorter stature that you need the pull-backs? I'm 5'10" and find the stock h-bars just about right with my backrest (on my Ultra). On my '03 RK, however, I DID install different bars for the same reason you just did on your Ultra.
I am a 5"10" also, but Ifound myself having to have the backrest at 90 degrees plus and having to leanforward a littlein order to have some bend in my arms.My arms were pretty straight when in a crusing position.I have a friend that is 6' and just had them installed for the same reason. It was a real problem when I wanted to use my highway pegs and use the backrest on the longer trips--could not keep both hands on the grips without keeping a very straight upright position.
Now you've got me thinking. I recently ordered the Kury Cruiser Boards for my longer trips. I wonder if I'll encounter the same dilemma. I now have my backrest fairly straight up and down. How much closer do the pull backs bring the grips?
"Easy"...........When you got the pullbacks installed, you had to lengthen the cables, right? I checked on this one time and my stealer suggested I go with braided cables since they had to be replaced anyway. Bottom line was that for a set of $50 bars, had to spend another $550 in parts and labor to install the bars and the braided cables. Thanks...........Radman
RanD--the pullbacks come about 1 1/2 - 2inches closer to you. Of course it depends to some extent on the levelat which you install the bars so this could vary a little. The tech called me back into the shop before he tightened down the bars, so I could havethe level adjusted to suit my taste. I wanted the grips to slant down a little, just like the stock bars do. For me, putting my feet forward on highway pegs made me feel the need to lean back little--now I can and still keep both hands on the grips. I suppose you could encounter the same issue when you install those crusier boards.

Yes, you will need the longer cables. Some guys on this board have done the job themselves and made the shorter cables work with some mods, but the longer ones are definitely recommended. I did not want any issues with cables getting in a bind, so I went with HD's recommendation on this. As far as braided cables, I have an 07. Harley does not have the braided cable option for the 07 yet. I did get braided brake line cable, which is not only available, but is required if the pullback bars are installed.
How much $$$ was the labor ?
Did you have it done at the dealer ?
Jack
It started out with an estimate of5 hours labor, but I also decided to have the dealer install the polyutherene bushings and the oil temp gauge, since the faring would be offanyway. I ended up getting it all done for 5.5 hours labor, with 10% off all parts installed. I also checked those faring brackets myself while the faring was off--some folks had reported them cracking or breaking. Mine were ok.
