or you can jump into a new ride- touring bikes are fun and will be great on the roads up there, but a lighter bike will be faster, lean better and brake better without worrying about the brakes fading or the rotors warping.
yes, I have a touring bike, but I also have other models, some of which are "on the edge" at sub-legal speeds, some of which will knock the eyeballs to the back of your head- some go fast in a straight line, some go fast around corners, .... and some are comfy for 10 hour days
