I got my harness, and all my parts for the conversion from Ronnie's HD. The wiring harness is a little pricey, but worth it in the long run.

As for the speedo and tach housing, since I ordered a color matched inner fairing they were included. Like redbeard said, roadglide.org or eBay may be the route to go.

Can wiring be extended, or do I defiantly need a new fairing wire harness? Looking at cost, the harness looks to be pricy.

Did any of you find a good source for a used speedo and tach housing? I have looked on eBay, and the forums, not finding much.
I have one laying around out in my garage if you're interested...

Yea, I may have an interest, what year is it from. Not sure if there is a difference between years.

Interesting project... The road glide has grown on me over the years. I might have to keep an eye on this thread I case I find the urge to convert!

Great project! I am doing this with an 09. I started by buying the 09 parts manual and a 2011 PM for the touring bikes. Lots of parts will cross over. Like Q said 10 and later brackets lift the front end slightly so you can install lowers. I am starting with an Ultra and want to end up with a road glide ultra. Like you I bought the Matazu inner off ebay that I will paint to have color matched along with the tour pak and lowers to a 2010 red paint set I bought. Keep us posted.

I converted mine from a 2007 Road King police. The wiring was the biggest pita, partly because there was no provision for interconnect, no wiring for stereo, no wiring for some of the gauges. And partly because it was a police bike, with all the extra wiring crap that you don't need.

I stripped my bike to the frame as part of the overall project, and rewired it up with a new, civilian main harness, which laid the groundwork for everything else. Then it was just a matter of sourcing an interconnect, handlebar wiring, gauge package, and the fairing parts.

You guys who are starting from a batwing bike have half the work already done, all you need is the interconnect, and the fairing parts.

Unless you enjoy, and are proficient at wiring, I'd advise you find an interconnect. Its much nicer when all the terminals are where they should be, and nobody will be able to tell it didn't come from the factory that way without decoding your vin.

I think I spent close to 2K on my conversion, which included the main and interconnect harnesses, handlebar wiring and switches, inner, outer, speedo nacelle, gauges, OEM radio and all the necessary brackets. I'd do it again in a heartbeat, it was the best money I spent on this bike.

Ain't that the truth. I feel the exact same way.
