My code is the same as my debit card and my garage door opener. Makes it easy to remember.

No, I'm not posting it.

The fob battery lasts a long time but not forever. if it dies isn't it the same as not having a fob? I keep an extra fob battery (tested each spring) in my side bag which can be used also for a back up to my heated gear controller and the spare fob (battery tested annually) in aluminum foil under my seat.

Two things come to mind here:

1. On the 14's, if you mount the bike and the key is not within range, it will automatically go to the code sequence for you. You only need to remember the code.

2. My bike will not recognize the fob unless it is within about 3 feet. Which is odd, because I used to leave the fob on my work bench in my garage while I was working on my old bike and I could still start it. Not with the new Limited. Work bench is maybe 5 feet from the bike.

Push button gas lid here, I put my helmet in the tour pak and lock it so I need the key which has my FOB to open it. (as long as I don't change helmets for some reason). I have the code to the security printed on waterproof labels and I printed 5 of them placed in various places so if I forget, or one falls off or is locked or something I have others.

I didn't know there was a wallet card, I will have to go find that and laminate it and put it in my wallet good to know.

Hmmmm....sometimes my key fob is on a chair less than 5 feet behind my bike and will not start. Sometimes, I'm working on my bike and go to start it and it wont.....even though the fob is on the garage floor.

Good 5 digit code easy to remember is your ZIP code, or first 5 or last 5 of your SSN...just saying.
Found this out the hard way...

Here's a tip that I use. Most of us always have our phones with us so what I did was create a new contact in my phone with the first name "security" and last name "bypass" and entered my 5 digit code as the phone number. Now all I have to do is pull out the phone and look up the phone number for my old high school buddy Security Bypass!
