I just recently installed the Road Tech 665, with NIM and the HD Bomm. The GPS works well but in the Texas Hill country I loose signal allot. I am too the point that I will discontinue my XM service, not worth it.

My 2 cents.

I bought a Zumo 665 shortly after they came out a few years back and recently sold the unit when I moved to a 14 Limited. . I did not have any problems, the XM radio worked good for me. Most of my riding was in the Ozarks of Arkansas and the Texas Hill country. The Zumo can not be integrated into the bikes controls as the RoadTech can. If you mount on the left side as most do, it is very easy to control the unit with your left hand. You should be able to order a Zumo online and save several hundred dollars over the Road Tech.

I choose the 660 and the XM Module as I already had XM in all of the cars. If you have the 665 you have to always have it mounted to get XM. With the 660 I can have XM even if I don't need navigation and have the Garmin off.

Economy wise the 665 is a better value because it is only about 100 more than the 660 while the MX module is about 500.

DO NOT get the NIMN !!!
It does not work properly and MOCO has not addressed the problem.
My dealership had to take ir out of my trike.
What a waste of money!!!

I have the Garmin 665LM with the NIM. Love the GPS and integrated voice but added the XM module to my CVO SG for better XM integration. Prefer the XM module to the 665 but the 665 would be portable between vehicles

I had a ZUMO on my 08 Ultra with the XM Radio attachment. Moved the GPS between ride and cage. Had a special harness purchased from third party that fully integrated it into the HD radio and headset.

Now that I traded for the 2014 Ultra Ltd and the built in Infotainment System, I couldn't be happier. Touch/Toggle Switch/ Voice Activation is great. Only trouble is that the Garmin as a GPS and Trip Planning system is above all other makes. The Infotainment system does not incorporate Garmin, and it doesn't seem to be Tom Tom either. Other posts here have tons of advice about how to get it working, but to me Harley should have gone the with Garmin

Default XM

I have the 665 without the NIM. If you are going to mainly listen to XM or tunes on the CD card on the GPS, there is no real need for the NIM. The Zumo will cut the music to give you voice prompts.

The weather is the best part of the XM. No matter where you are you can get weather maps showing your location. I love that feature.

If you decide to get a GPS and not go with the NIM, get a Zumo and not a roadtech. Last I heard you can get lifetime maps with the Zumo, but not the Roadtech. At least I never got LTM with mine.

I have had both and am currently running the 665. With the 665 I have reception with the antenna mounted inside the fairing which was never the case with the XM module. Also the live weather radar feature alone makes it a better choice in my opinion.

What exactly does not work with the NIMN?

Curious too . I did a self install of the RT 660 with NIM a couple years ago and works flawless. I do know that the first version of the instructions had two wires switched for the 30 pin connector. Revised instructions corrected that.
