I currently have about 27,500 miles. I have an 07 roadking. I did the last oil change myself and changed all three holes. Anyone have any recommendations for me as I'm about to head out on a week long ride that might cover 1500 miles? Thanks in advance.
When did you last service your bike? If the next one falls during your planned trip, then do it before you set off. Otherwise check all fluid levels, tyre treads (don't risk those as they can wear out darned quick if getting low), tyre pressures. If carrying a passenger or lots of luggage increase tyre pressures to suit.
Thanks for the quick responses. I had the service done at 20k miles by the dealer. I checked fluids and cables when I changed the fluids at 25000, I had a new tire put on about 1500 miles ago and the front is in great shape. The belt and tension are good to go as well. Is there anything in the motor like cams, cam tensioners, or other internals. I'm not real familiar with the insides of the motor so I may be using the wrong terminology or listing parts that aren't on my bike. Again thanks in advance.
07 is a good year for internals. For example, HD switched to the hydraulic cam tensioners in 07 and you have a lot more mileage before worrying about replacing them. About the only weak link I know of, for internals in the 07 would be the compensator. Unless it is already acting up, should be good to go for a 1500 mile trip.
Other than the advice already given: New plugs might be in order? Adjust the pressure in the shocks to accommodate Otherwise do not worry about the bike and enjoy the trip. You have low mileage for that year motor.
