Default Fender bender (literally)

So I pull up behind a car on an off ramp to a yield sign, car in front is stopped, look over my shoulder, there is a vehicle coming, approx 30mph, about a football field away, at least. So I think to myself, oh I can definitely make that too, throttle up, dump the clutch, look forward, the car in front of me hadn't budged. So I do the best I can to grab the brake but too late, rammed right into the back of her. Unfortunate lesson learned at the expense of my fender (and bag/crash bar/muffler). Luckily it happened down the street from a firehouse where a buddy was working so I had a crow bar handy to bend the fender back off the tire.

After 10 years of riding, finally had an accident and it HAD to be the Harley...

About a year ago I thought the same thing, But I was in my truck. Ever sence then I make sure the car in front of me is moving and gone before I even think about going forward. Like you said lesson learned.

That's why we have insurance!
Not the end of the world.
Never assume a minivan driver will EVER make do the expected.

But.. it's big.. and bright red.. bright red..

You just validated everyone who said they didn't see that motorcycle they pulled out in front of.

Sorry, someone had to make fun of it.

Ouch. At least the damage was minimal and, more importantly, you're okay.

Oops. If you have to have an accident, that was a easy one. Glad you are ok.

I almost had that happen to me in my Springer a few years ago. Fortunately, I was able to swerve out of the way and avoid the accident. Bright side of things, it was just a fender and your okay. Live to ride another day!
