I just dl'd the new SEPST software, they changed the whole look, but everything seems functionally the same. Wish they would put in the speedo correction. We all know it's there.
I see that some of the 2014-2015 calibrations use throttle position instead of KPA, and also have spark advance/head temp to reduce ping. That sure would have saved me a lot of grief if they put that in my calibration.
Just wondering if anyone else has comments on the new version.

They redid all the current 14 maps to new strategy. You have to copy and paste current DATA into new strategy. Second time this year. All I can see is it has 14 and 15 listed under calibration. Function is same.

Talking about copy and paste. Could data from an older tune be used in a newer tune? Would the 14-15 tunes work on a 12 ECM or did they change the ECM on the newer bikes. How much different would it be to use throttle position vs map for actually doing or adjusting a given tune? Is one method really better than the other. When I started doing my tune in 2012 everyone was showing me charts that had TP across the top but my files all had KPA, so they went to KPA for a few years then back to TP?? Seems like a clusterf**K to me. Wish they'd get their poop in a group.

The SEPST is very strict on which strategy you use. The first map that came out for the 14 was a 614XXXXXX. About 3 or 4 months into using them they came out with a 617XXXXX and obsoleted all the 614. You could no longer reload a 614 on the bikes that originally had a 614. You had to copy from the 614 and paste into the 617. Now they have renumbered all the 617 pre 15 year models to include the 15 year models and having to do the same thing, but they still are using the 617 strategy. The only map I am aware of that will fit the 12 Touring is one that starts with 009 or 044. The 009 came out in 10 and the 044 later in 10 or 11. 08 and 09 bikes had 205 strategy which is TPS on the VE's. I have never seen any maps that use TPS on the Spark all are Kpa. You can use the data from a 617 but you have to convert to the Map format on the 2012 as it won't install it. Same way with putting data from old tune in new tune, the number of cells and rpm steps are much larger on the new bikes. It is definitely a new computer on the 14 and 15 touring. Called a CanBus. It was already on the softails and dyna prior to 14. I tried on a Power Vision for 12 limited to put a 14 map on it to be able to use the TPS for VE's and no go on it either.
I do most of the maps and tunes for local dealership and It is definitely getting to be a hassle redoing all the database of customized maps every time they decide to make a change. Seems like a cluster f**K to me also.
How much different would it be to use throttle position vs map for actually doing or adjusting a given tune? The only ones I am aware of that will allow you to use either is the Power Vision on the 14 up. I had always used the Map on my 10 limited and when I went to the 14 the PV lets you use either Map or TPs. I used Map to start with and it didn't respond as well as I expected. I switched to the TPS and it was much better. The map Kpa load cruises about 50% load and the Throttle position is about 15%. It is not a direct copy paste on switching. Been running the TPS for several tanks and it works great. Much easier to get the stumble out of off idle response. Map may work too, but haven't adjusted it to see.
