To each their own but IMO, they are there for a reason, don't matter how they look, they will save a lot of coin if the bike decides to take a nap.

Although my ride didn't come stock with them, I did add some for that "just in case" moment!

My saddle bags are just too much $$$ to replace or repair!

Do you mean saddlebag guard rails or guards? A limited already comes stock with saddlebag guards.

My 2012 Limited came without them and it was one of my first addons.
Glad i did, especially when my bike was laying on it's right side after i came out of the Devil's tower welcome center. Not a scratch on the bag! It would also keep me from loosing a saddlebag in the event one was to come loose

I'm on the fence as well with their appearance, but for my bike it fits, so that is up to the individual.

However, I can tell you they saved me a ton of dough, from day 1! First ride out, I had not secured the hardbag well enough, and during the ride it had worked it's way loose and was being held in by the gaurds. Had I lost the bag and all the contents I would have been a lot lighter in the wallet when I got home.

So again, it goes back to the question of form or function. I won't take mine off, and I get nervous anytime I ride behind my buddy on his SG that it's going to come off. So peace of mind for those of us that are a little paranoid.

I like both the look and the protection that they offer, especially on a full dresser. Not only do they protect from door dings or going on its side, but it is also easier to take the bags on or off, and if that one time the pins are not locked all the way in the bags it will keep them from falling off down the road. I just see more pros then cons having them.

I look a lot better without a helmet, but it does serve a purpose

My wife says I look better WITH a full-face helmet, but I still ride with no helmet. LOL

i have a 2013 limited and the guards have kept my bags from getting scuffed when it went over once and its saved the bags from deer strikes....twice. instead of just hitting the bags, they hit the guards instead.....saved my a$$, i'm sure of it.
