Our issues are not always due to riding Harleys, but would apply to any motorcycle.
We have had flat tires, run out of gas, had batteries die, headlights burn out. Just the normal stuff you deal with on motorcycles.
Cars have trouble too. Try going on a run with 10 cars and see if everybody makes it without any service needs.
Seriously? There's no comparison as to how dependable the newer cars are today vs a Harley. (That's because the car guys strive to make their product better. Harley clearly doesn't, year after year.) No more excuses please.

I couldn't agree more, Harley keeps trying to find the cheapest part supplier to help keep the cost to them low. They're making them more disposable as time goes by. I won't reward incompetence, which is why I won't buy from them anymore. My dad bought the ESP for his 09 Trike, it paid for it self. The only down side was being stranded 1,400 miles from home for 3 days when it **** the bed on the way to Yellowstone.
Listen if it has **** or WHEELS it will give you problems....... LOL All brands have problems, my friend had a brand new Goldwing that broke down the first weekend he own it. My feeling is that after 09 with the new frame and improvements the Harley's are true road bike and now with the 14's plus I would worry about a cross country trip. As many have posted keep up on and ahead of the service. Don't over look the "little" things like checking lights or looking for loose nuts/ bolts. Carry a small tool kit and know how to use them. The dealerships aren't like they used to be anymore but at least they are around. Once on a ride down to DC my friend was having a power issue, we call ahead to a dealership who kept a service tech on the clock after closing to wait for us, and got us back on the road that night. Now most will tell you to come back in the morning but thats another story.
Bottom line, The only way not to have a problem on a motorcycle is not to ride one.
