I received my #2 #2 Ohlins from Motorcycle Metal on Wed. the 10th. as Howard promised and installed them . I checked the initial setting and they seemed correct so I took a ride as short as it was. First impression was on how bumpy (choppy ) they felt but as forum members have said they need to get about 500 miles on them before a good evaluation could be achieved. I had about 20 miles on them when I started feeling a big difference. The roads were starting to smooth out , the choppy ride was gone but I had to wait until another day to test ride some more.
Next couple of days I started riding on the roads that I avoided because of the pot holes and construction patches and found myself bracing for the inevitable bottoming and launching in the air which didn't happen. Much to my surprise the front end (progressive mono 1" lower) starting to respond to road conditions much smoother also.I don't know how this all works but the two units in conjunction with each other have made my ride a pleasure. My only regret is that I didn't go to MM first and get my total suspension together as I'm sure the ride would be even better. Thanks Howard and thanks for the member discount.
I purchased 2-2 b's from Howard a few years ago for my 09 ultra, what a difference it made. Traded the 09 in on a 13 road glide ultra and moved the ohlins shocks over to the new bike last July. We now have over 20k on them with the roadie and 15 from the ultra time for them to get freshened up by Howard this winter. Best upgrade I have ever made on a Harley, the comfort and handling is well worth the money IMO.
