Bought a pint of silver to paint my fairing and only need a fraction of it.$80 for a pint of of it mixed in PPG Deltro 2000.That's Harley for you.If anyone needs some of this paint to paint what ever.Let me know. Can sell you 2,4,or 8 oz. ready to spray or not reduced.
Not sure if you're complaining about the cost of the paint or that you only needed a few ounces. Most people don't realize the cost of paint, clear, activators and reducers that go along with it. HD had nothing to do with the cost of that pint of paint. It's almost better for most to have a body shop do the work, by the time you're done buying all of the products you need you could have a body shop do the job for less. They have all the stuff you'll need on the shelf and only charge you for the product they use.

That's partially true.Could have it mixed up in a different brand for about a 1/4 of the price.Would it been a dead match from PPG;who know?I could have had my buddy's body shop mix it up but he didn't have 1 of the 3 silver that's in this formula.Yes you could go to a body shop to have work done but I'm very **** about my paint work that most shop spray it and buff it.Orange peel to real smooth to drips and runs. This is for someone who want to do it themselves.Couldn't find like 8 oz of this, so I know if I need to paint more I have it.All the paint I bought was HOK and the pearl orange wasn't as expensive as this silver.

Not sure of what the highlighted reference to Harley is about since HD sells sprayable paint in quart quantities and you bought a pint. Your subsequent post references HOK, so you're selling HOK paint, not HD's paint, correct?
As for color-matching, the gun, pressure, environment, top coat, applicator, etc. all influence color-matching from the can of paint to finished product.
There's no substitute for test panels.

PS: Since PPG supplies HD paint, the PPG forumulas are, likely, very accurate.
No, the paint that I have is PPG/Harley paint.Harley uses PPG to paint there bikes.I used HOK paint over my factory color when I painted my bike.I stated that the price of the pint of paint was a little higher than normal cuz this paint's for Harley Davidson.I could have had it mixed in an off brand paint for a quarter of the price.Matching factory color with the off brand,I don't know. You get what you pay for.
i just ordered a quart of sedona orange from the MOCO $160.00 iam painting my inner fairing and my extended bags. and then between the pin stripes iam going to silver leaf it and change the color of the stripping to a brighter orange. but yes most paints are very expensive the most expensive is all the reds and oranges.

PPG's pricing schedule has nothing to do with what brand of bike or car it is from. Their pricing depends on the toners and pearls being used to make the color. They use an alphabetacal scale, the higher up the alphabet the price code is, the higher the price. If your color has just one of these high price toners, even a small amount, you pay the high price. Harley just happens to use the more brilliant colors, pearls, and metallics in their colors. One could easily pay $80 a pint or more for a silver on a Dodge truck.
Depending on the amount of each toner required, you run the risk of the color being off if you try and mix amounts less than one pint. That's why the paint shops won't mix less than a pint. (unless you spend a boat-load of money with them).
Automotive paint is expensive period!
What is the PPG code for the brilliant silver pearl (from the HD website for the 2010 bikes)? I found several pages listing Silver Metallic 902849, is this correct?
