Has anybody had this happen? I have a most annoying, very embarrassing, really loud squeak/rattle coming from the back of my 2012 TriGlide. It's so loud, I'm embarrassed to take it on Patriot Guard Missions. We're supposed to ride with respect and my bike sounds like a joke. I've searched all over the back and I can't seem to locate it. It seems to be coming from the area of the upper shocks, but I can't say for sure. I can reach up and put my fingers on the shock bolts and I don't feel any vibration. It's driving me nuts. This shouldn't happen on a $30,000+ motor vehicle. If I don't figure this out soon, I'm going to pull the body off!
Put your foot against the mufflers at the rear of the bike and see if it stops. Sounds to me like you have a squeak in the rubber muffler mount. Eventually happens to all touring models that have the mufflers attached the way they are. You usually only hear it at an idle.
If this turns out to be the problem you can either replace the rubber inserts in the muffler mount, or paint them with a little brake fluid. The brake fluid will lubricate them and stop the squeak and will not cause the rubber to deteriorate.
I had a very annoying squeak on my 2009 TG. Had a very difficult time trying to find it. If I rocked the trike from side to side while standing still the squeak would happen. After removing the rear body and doing the rocking motion I discovered that the Heim joints on both ends of the pannard bar were dry and squeaking. I applied a liberal amount of white lithium grease to both joints and WaLa no more squeaks. Happy hunting.

I pulled the entire exhaust system off last week. Still squeaked.

I think that you may be on to something. If I push the trike from side to side it
squeaks very loudly. The sound seems to be coming from the area of panhard rod. That is where I'm going to look next. Can I get at it without pulling the body?
