Default mud flaps

who's running mud flaps on their trikes ? i'm thinking of making one for the front to keep the crap off of the water pump and surrounding things.

I run a SS one on the front. Decided on how much I wanted to extend the stock one, made a cardboard template and had a sheetmetal shop make one for me. it's pretty long, maybe only 4" above the road but works well.

I run a leather one on the front. I bought it a few years ago, and can't remember the makers name. It is held on by velcro and has held up well in rain etc

Check out this web site. I had one made for the front fender of my Street Glide, and liked it so much I had him make mud flaps for my trike.

They are very well made, and attach with industrial grade Velcro.

The one my my Street Glide was still holding strong when I traded it in after 5 years. I removed it and gave it to my brother who installed it on his bike 2 years ago.

Just email him and tell him what bike you have, and he will get right back to you.

Very honest guy, and great service at a reasonable price.

I made one from some belting from macs hardware. Used some construction paper to make a pattern, and drilled holes for mounting. Using small bolts and acorn nuts it looks like it could be factory. This was a must do with my gravel road and the oil cooler on my 12.

I did the same thing. It works great quite inexpensive !
One thing to consider here is the air flow from the front tire to anything it may have cooled. There won't be near the air movement.
What I have been thinking about is making the flap into a fringe so it will bend & go back a ways to deflect the debris & still let a bit more wind to cool with. Also flexible for curbs.
There are leather ones that do just that. I'm just cheap !

That's a great way to do it as air flow is a consideration with a cooler.
