Default Wireless Headset

I was surprised to find that the only HD branded Sena Headset offered on HD's website is the 50k video version (which costs over $500). The problem for us trike riders is that we still have the Boombox and the Cardo headsets are not compatible. I understand you can get a jumper and that will allow access to Carplay - no headset required. But, you won't have the ability to use voice commands which pretty much defeats the CarPlay advantage.

If you're not familiar, you can pair a non-HD branded headset, but you will have limited functions, including no stereo sound.

Does anyone have a source - who is selling HD branded Sena headsets - anyone?

You are correct sir. I found this out the hard way last fall. The HD dealer here is Sioux Falls, SD sold me a Cardo and it was not in stereo and did not allow use of all the boom box functions. Luckily, they had one HD Sena 50S in stock. I would try several HD Dealers to see if they have any left in stock since Harley branded Sena 50S are not made anymore.

I Use Cardo EDGE headsets. I get all functions from Boom GTS and CarPlay.
No WHIM, Use Sena Freewire and an adaptor plugged into my USB on the bike which allows Carplay and also allows me to have iPhone mounted on handlebar.
2018 Tri-glide with GTS.

There are many threads on this situation on the forums here. Just search Pactalk or Cardo and GTS and you will be able to use Cardo which is far superior to Sena units in many ways.

So I didn't see this.... The wife and I have shoei helmets made for Sena. I've been meaning to get around to getting coms... We ride different bikes... But this is an issue? You can't just use any headset on a trike? Any Sena? I don't have crap on my bike and I will just be using phone... But she needs more stuff for hers to work right? What fits Shoei is that SLR2.
Thanks.

If you share what it is you want to accomplish maybe you can get the help you need.

For example:
communicate with wife on her bike only?
Hear your own phone music and/or share that?
Hear H-D Boombox wirelessly?
Communicate with group of riders?

There are many options depending on what you actually want to accomplish.

Got it... Right. Me is easy. I just want coms on my bike. I have nothing on my LRST. I have speakers in my helmet. I can listen to tunes. I have those Harmon kardons... But as I thought, nothing is that great in a helmet. I don't know if I even use it a third of the time. But I can at least listen to directions if I'm going somewhere. But now with a real headset, I would be able to communicate with the wife riding... Or use voice commands on my phone.

Being new to riding neither of us wanted to mess with stuff at first. The wife will listen to tunes now. She doesn't have anything in her helmet. So I said speakers would be a little better going down the road... But just being able to talk to me going down the road would be nice when necessary.

I figured she would use her info system on her trike. Why not use the controls she has, but I didn't really think what that would involve. She could obviously just use her phone like me and not bother with trike, but what would it take for her to use her trike for everything and have BT coms with me?

Thank you.

So I ordered Sena SLR 2s, but then cancelled because... Well it's #2 and not as good as #3, but #3 won't fit our helmets. Shame if we can take advantage of custom fit... But really I want best system even if it's another brand...

So what brand/system... Preferably mesh... Will work with 2020 tri-glide and android auto? Is there anything that will work through tri-glide stereo and give wireless comms and music? I have to solve that problem first so I can get compatible setup for my non stereo LRST.

Thank you.

As I stated earlier, you need an HD Sena, which Sena has stopped making.
I have the HS Sena 50S and it works great (after trying a Cardo that didn't work and nothing else will work).
I see a used HD 50 on Ebay which I would quickly buy if I was you.
eBay item number:177049196425
it reads "Harley Davidson Boom GTS SENA 50s with Mesh are becoming harder to find has become as Harley no longer sells them. This Harley brand SENA is required for Harley Davidson motorcycles with a (WHIM) Wireless Headset Integration Module (not included) to get handlebar controls and stereo sound. Non-Harley SENA devices will work with the WHIM but the sound is mono and static and the handlebar controls don't work.
Also, includes upgraded Rockford Fosgate speakers I purchased separately and sound awesome. These Harley brand SENA 50s are completely compatible with all non-Harley brand SENA devices."

So how is that Harley... Never passing up an opportunity to make something proprietary and gouge for... No longer makes the proprietary thing... And offers no other solution for full functionality of what many other makers and brands have done since the beginning.... Making my only option something used off ebay... On a 2020 trike?

So there is no other option, for full functionality, other than that. Not option is to cob together other stuff to get something to work.... Or... Just say screw the whole thing and just run a wireless headset off a phone and call it good... And mount the phone to the bars.
