Default Adding Electric Plugs

Hello all,

I would like to be able to add a couple of electric plugs to the bike for my cameras. I have tried the plugs that go into the built in plug with less than ideal results. Can I wire a plug direct to the battery and not cause any issues with the Canbus? These would be commercially available plugs not something I would throw together. Also, would powering a camera off the plug in the fairing cunny cause any issues? 2024 RG3

Thanks all!

Can you explain what this means?

There is an accessory power kit by HD. I have the kit installed on my Electra Glide to power a GPS.

You can wire direct from the battery as long as you include an in line fuse sufficient to protect the system. Be cautious though because too many systems draining the battery at one time can leave you stranded down the road. I have a direct fused connection for my heated riding gear, my CB ( non-factory) as well as a spare power plug along with the standard one supplied with the trike. The key is to not exceed the recommended draw at any time. Should be stated in your owners manual.

I suggest tapping into the wiring of the power ports wiring behind the fairing, this is only powered when the bike is running, so no worries about draining the battery, and is already fuse protected.

Don`t tap into any wires.

There is a connector in the fairing that is unused, it is switched power.

Connector 299A. It is a 2 Way Tyco 070 Multilock Unsealed connector (Black).

Make up a connector for the component you want to power and plug it into this connector.

You can get the connector parts from the dealer:

Connector housing part number 73152-96 BK

Terminal Socket 73191-96
