Mine was acting the same way as yours. I activated it and then the temp went up to mid 80's to 90 degrees. Each time I tried to get thru a bunch of red lights, the trike acted like it wanted to stall. Sounded awful. So I deactivated it. I'll try it again after the 1000 service. Just waiting for the Full Sac mods.

It won't stall, it'll just sound like **** and shake your cocktail.

How do you know when the EITMS kicks in? Is there a particular noise the engine makes or some other way to know for sure?

The reason I ask is mine has gotten pretty hot several times but I didn't notice anything different behavior going on that got my attention. So either it wasn't activated from the factory or I didn't notice it-which seems unlikely.

I did just activate it per the owner's manual but it's raining here today so can't get out.
...i hope you dont think my question is stupid....i have T/G...what is EITMS ????? ...do i have that ??

EITMS stands for Engine Idle Temperature Management System. Basically, what it does is turn off the rear cylinder when stopped under high heat conditions. The idea is that this provides limited cooling of the rear cylinder. If you have a TG you should have EITMS, it is probably turned off from the Dealer. You can turn it on and off yourself by doing the following.
1. Turn ignition to on position
2. Push the throttle to the max roll off position and hold
3. The cruise control indicator will flash either green (on) or red (off)

I have to admit I was very surprised to find out mine was disabled from the factory. I would have thought the opposite. It seems like a no-brainer to me. Yes, it's a little annoying but you get used to it and anything to help cool these beasts down a little has to be a good thing, right?

Having said that, based on Mr. Wizard's recommendation I need to get mine in to see why it's coming on so easily-maybe need an update or something.

It says in the manual that it comes from the factory disabled! That said, it took me ages to believe that it was on (despite the green light). It needs basically idle revs and a really high cylinder head temp to kick in. Funny sound as mentioned by others and an odd smell from the exhaust tell you it's working.

On the shorts argument: real men wear kilts

I don't know what year your manual is (mine is a 2012), but unless ours are different you might wish to reconsider your little "RTFM" icon. There is not one word on pages 126-127 of mine to indicate whether it is enabled on not from the factory.

And mine is coming on with little to no provocation.

Icon withdrawn, then, with apologies! 2010 here, and of course it's possible that the manual is different for non-US models, but it's very clearly stated in mine - I looked after frying in traffic!
