Default Eitms

I've hesitated asking such a stupid question but what the heck.

How do you know when the EITMS kicks in? Is there a particular noise the engine makes or some other way to know for sure?

The reason I ask is mine has gotten pretty hot several times but I didn't notice anything different behavior going on that got my attention. So either it wasn't activated from the factory or I didn't notice it-which seems unlikely.

I did just activate it per the owner's manual but it's raining here today so can't get out.

It is a very distinctive difference in sound from the exhaust as the front cylinder is the only one firing.

Kind of reminds me of an old 4 stroke thumper, shakes like one also.

When your bike is idling normally it goes:
Thump-Thump....Thump-Thump....Thump-thump.

With EITMS

Thump....Thump....Thump....

The only time mine kicked in was in Las Vegas, stuck on Las Vegas Blvd (the Strip) at 2:00pm in 118* heat. I almost melted before it kicked in. Couldn't get off the strip fast enough to get some air across the cylinders. Yes, that time my leg (in shorts) got hot!

Well that's OK.

At 56, heck that's still in Cub Scout range!

I must be a pansy. I would never even think about riding in shorts. Of course I don't wear shorts period

Different strokes I suppose.

I rarely wear anything else, regardless of the season, unless my wife makes me for a particular event.
