I'll take some pix while sitting in the seat and see how much more view the little mirror has. I always set the big mirror so that I just barely see my shoulder on the extreme inside edge.

Sloufoot,
When you mentioned snow and salt, ugh, it brought back horrible memories of living 48 years in northern New Jersey. I can still feel the grit in my eyes and throat and remember always getting in trouble for leaving salt powder foot prints on my wife's clean floors. I even recall when the big storms would dry out, the cars coming down the road would produce these huge clouds of white salt dust in the air...and every car was white! I don't miss it one bit. Yesterday it was 62* here and I ride every day that it doesn't rain. That's retirement to me.
Anyway, back to the mirrors...I'll admit, they could be better, but give them a fair try before condemning them. I am not defending HD, however I do believe they had a good reason for fixing the mirrors in the head the way they did. Me, and a lot of other riders say they like them. For you, they may not be right. When it comes to your safety, do what feels right to you. If you decide not to keep them after the return period, they bring excellent money on eBay. I recently saw a set go for close to what I paid for mine new. Good luck!

I am running my mirrors with the H-D extensions. I prefer the higher and further out position it places them in. Stock mirrors made me feel like I'm looking down to see in the mirrors. Now I don't have that feeling anymore.
