I think every Triglide should come with a mudflap on the front from the factory. I put one on right away but still had some paint loss from highway dust. You did a nice install. I bought a $5 set of JC Whitney flaps and used the back on the front putting it down to where is really close to the highway. My radiator stays clean now.
Yeah, the gap between the bottom of the stock front fender and the road leaves way too much room for crud to get thrown back on the bike. The mudflap pictured cuts that gap from approx 6" down to 1".
I can't see any washers in your photos. You might consider some stainless fender washers or another type on the inside to spread the load out and keep the hardware from pulling out. That's what I did on mine and she is solid as a rock.
