This story is Bull#$%@. So let me get this straight, you can't buy parts on line from an out of territory dealer, but you can buy a motorcycle without a dealer altogether. Sure, OK. The narrator probably works for Indian!
Parts, what parts? We're talking Tesla model here, where there is no competition within a brand; where you can't buy parts unless you're in the service business and agree to charge Tesla's grossly inflated service prices. As in, $20000 for minor fender bender damage. And if you bought the car at a low price, now you know how they'll make you pay for it over time. Either directly or through your insurance premiums.
Hate to say it, but it's TRUE. This is the future plans for HD and they (Puma Boy) announced it some time back. He see's this as the future, direct sales with the dealerships becoming more of service centers to support the factory direct sales. They have already started doing it with Tee shirts and parts sales now and will continue to work the entire product line this way. When it was announced they also said that it would get put in place over the next several years.

Imagine what the repair prices will be.. I'll bet the dealers are pissed.. Especially the salesmen..
I don't know about now days but back in the 70s, the service departments weren't the money makers. They came out a little ahead most of the time but some ran a little in the red if parts sales was considered separate.
Beware. In the this new age of AI, we're going to start to see more AI-generated news crap, out of context but derivative of small nuggets of real news stories. It's going to snowball until nothing will be true. AI-generated news and videos will be derivative of other false AI-generated news stories until they're perceived as truth because you will see the same false information everywhere you look. Perception becomes reality. Over time, there will be no one left from the days of real information where people could be skeptical and seek the truth. The truth will be hidden or won't exist and the new brainwashed luddites will just believe everything they read, watch and hear.
