Well I have had my 2006 VRSCA for 9 months now and have hit the 10,000 mile mark. The dealership wanted almost $400.00 to do the 10k so I decided to do the service myself. If I can do 6k, 12k 24k and 48k services on Gillig and Newflyer Transit Buses, I should be able to do a 10k on my bike with my service manual. So at 9958 miles, I tore into the bike and here are some pics I took. Changing the sparks definately proved interesting and learned how to remove the airbox and battery in the process in order to get to the plugs which are buried in a 6 inch shaft through the cylinder heads. You can see the old plugs which were gapped at .38. I verified the .35gap of the new plugs. Do the plugs vary in gap after 10k miles? Or were they gapped improperly from the start? Anyway the rest of the service went pretty smooth, Oil, filter, brakes, cables, etc. The tires have 2mm tread left and should last me until 15k. I also took the opportunity to add fome features as well like engine guards and passenger floorboards.
The main pitfall I found is to be carefull not overtorque the velocity stack bolts as thethrottle body is aluminum. I accidently stripped one out and did not take that much torque to do so.
