I am in WA State. I have been calling around to the dealers cause I need the 20,000mile service. I really dont have the time needed to perform myself. They are asking for 600 bills to do the service. All fluids even fork oil.
I agree. I do my own fluids, but for the 20K service I found an independant that used the same checklist that is in my service manual, I took him the fluids I want to use (REDLINE) and the bill was $178.00.
Ask around , make some phone calls is what I'd suggest.
HD needs to update there motto - "Live to ride... AND know we will screw every chance we can if you do." I have already had 4 services on a brand new 2009 that is now 8 months old with 16k on it. I thought $300 for a service was ridiculous but $600... WTF
We need to keep in mind that we are paying for knowledge and superior mechanical ability, so in order to keep the Best Mechanics working for them, each HD shop must charge a rate that covers the bills plus make a little money.

Funny, I have never read a post where someone complained about how much their new bike cost, but there sure seems to be a lot of complaints about how much the dealer charges for service...The dealer is not stealing from you if he tells you up front what the cost will be.
Best way to avoid spending a fortune on motorcycle repair is buy a shop manual and do it yourself.

now that's a laugh...I've had to redo things that I've had two different area dealers do. Thats not knowledge and superior mechanical ability on thier part. at least not in my instances. I have a shop manual and have and will continue to do my own service....nobody wants my bike in better shape than I do!!!!
