Once approved -it can race forever unless NHRA changes rules. Plenty of air cooled GS Suzuki teams and Buell/S&S teams still competing.

I believe the v-rods are doomed
I truly believe it is doomed,but pray they keep the motor and put it into a street glide or road glide and make it one badass CVO Limited Edition.
It would be a great bike that doesn't shake and rattle one bit.
The new CVO BREAKOUT is trying to fill the void the will be empty when
the v-rod is gone. If it is truly going to be gone.
I have a Night Rod Special and love it and hate all the BS I get.

I am reminded that in 2011 HD announced that the Road Glide was discontinued.
Then with the introduction of the 12's was the Road Glide Custom. The difference was earth shaking. It was one inch lower.
HD has announced that they will bring out 10 new models for each of the next 5 years. I suspect that 2018 will have a single "new" model but no more Muscles or Night Rods. Maybe the return of the Street Rod.

They really missed out that they never really developed the bike to its full potential. A sport touring vrod would have been great, so would have been a more sporty version.
