Default wider frame questions

Im wanting to add a VRSC to the garage (of some variation) for a build I have in mind so I've been educating myself how they changed over the model run. Things like fuel tank, an apparent frame change for wider rear suspension etc but nothing says exactly what and if there are any drawbacks to the newer versions?

So Im wondering if someone can tell me specifically what was done to the VRSC frame and rear suspension in 08 vs earlier models? Im wanting to run wider tires front and rear so it makes sense I should start with something that accommodates wider wheels more easily.

thanks in advance!

I had an 09 VRSCAW -

2007 VRSCAW/VRSCDX both came
stock with the wide frame i.e. a 240mm rear tire, so that would be your choice for wide frame. The 240 was stock until
HD in it's infinite wisdom discontinued the VRod in 2016.

I personally had a 260mm wide tire on my 09 - I could have gone to a 280mm. Google "280 tire on a VRod" you'll see its
been done a lot. Great Bikes thinking of getting another!

They also in 2008 went to a 1250cc motor from 1130cc.

Just bought my third one a 2016 VRSCDX - Let me know if I can be of any assistance. I've had V's off and on since 2009.

FYI prices on used ones are as low as I have ever experienced...

Also, 2008 and up has the 1250cc engine and a slipper clutch - which really
allows you to shift "clutchless" up or down! They are a blast to ride -with the
kind of horsepower they have you can ride 2 up - just got to rev them up.

4000-5000 rpm is where they start really coming on 9200 rpm redline - so the engine at 4-5k is operating at about half it's range....Good Luck
