I have the Vmods - they pretty much growl like a bear. They are loud enough to set off car alarms when no one else's bike will. I also have the PC III. The pipes are a very deep growling sound and decelaration is just as cool sounding. I ride with a friend who simply drilled his pipes in six places and painted the cover black - his bike is a little higher pitched than mine but still sounds good and no fuel management has been neccessary. Also, its not obnoxiously loud - sometimes mine is just too loud and it hurts my own ears. People say they can hear me coming blocks away. I think if I had to do it again I'd do the drilling..keep it simple, but loud enough.
V-moded my 06 Streetrod Stock Mufflers about a month ago, after first trying the drilled version 8 X 10mm holes per muffler (not a bad sound, adequate to satisfy & keep the neighbours friendly). but I had to go the whole HOG!
took a 3 inch holesaw to rear of baffle,1.3/4 inch to front.
Beautiful deep rumble[sm=lildevil.gif] , @ 3000rpm returns 94 decibels @ 1 metre 7000+rpm returns 105 - no worry from errant pedestrians now
I have just VMODDED my pipes and added a SE Race Fueler. I am having the bike dyno tuned on Sunday, so I can give you the settings. As far as sound goes - they are LOUD. I went on a all day ride on Sunday (local Oyster run in Seattle) with a friend with a softail with Thunderheaders. The VMOD pipes are definately louder than his Thunderheaders.
If you want them louder than stock, but not as radical as VMOD, then you can drill a series of holes in each pipe. I did this to mine and ran them like that for a year before VMODDING.
Thanks for the reply. I drilled holes into my pipes. They sounda little throatier, but but like Thinderheards. I will stay with the drilled pipes until I want it even louder.
I had them on my VRSCA and loved them! That is how the bike should have come from the factory. They are loud and deep sounding, so on long trips your ears will be ringing!
I've been running them for 4 years. I couldn't be happier. I like the stock exhaust look, and they sound great. I have a spare 3rd volume sitting around and I'm gonna cut it and weld it to make a 2-1 using a single stock pipe like Hal's running. If it makes good power, I'll keep it.
