I'm considering purchasing an 08 Vrod sometime next year. I've been waiting for three changes (240 reartire, 1250 motor and 5 gal tank). Can anyone tell me how often the valves need adjusting? I used to own a 95 Softail so valve adjustments are totally new to me. I've read 10,000 miles from one source and 15,000 from another. Also, what kind of cost is involved with a valve adjustment? Any other high maintanence costs involved that I should be aware of?
2006 recommendations are every 12,000 miles (no change from previous years) I have read of people going 35,000+ before doing them and seeing very little if no adjustment needed.
I am at about 10,000 miles and I was told by a few reliable people that the valves don't need to be adjusted until closer to 25,000 miles. Everything seems fine so far anyway so I think they might be right!
