Last week I bought my first Harley - a 2003 v-rod. It's a great bike and a blast to ride. The guy I bought it from has done a lot to it, including removing the original tin set and replacing it with black, carey faas pipes and fueler and a lot of chrome. He's got the original tin set.Do you think there's any value to being able to restore it to it's 2003 100th anniversary look - he's willing to sellthem to me.
The real question - is there any collector value in a 2003 v-rod at some point in the future?
Yeah I would take them. I don't think it adds much value to the bike, but you could sell them on eBay for a reasonable amount of money.
Now if HD only made a limited number of anniversary bikes then they would be worth something extra... I just don't get HD's every five years throwing anniversary bikes out there.
Hi, sounds like our bikes might be a lot alike. I like the black better, but who knows, maybe the 100th anniversary look will be worth something. Anyway, from what the guys are telling me, making your bike "your own" is what it's all about.
I believe in time the original tins like the anodized and ann. tins will be hard to get as the guys, gals do custom painting on these tins and will be used up.
I have an 02A anodized that I am keeping original.
