You'll like the Trask turbo. You won't go wrong with it. The air filter intereferes with the Key, so you may want to consider ditching your Igntion for the Digital Guard Dawg Keyless Ignition module DGD-KIM.

You can see it at www.digitalguarddawg.com

If you decide you want to order one, drop an email to keylessmod@v-rod.net. I can guarantee the lowest pricing on that unit.

I was going to go Turbo.

Still plan on it when I get a 2nd bike...

But say what you will, without some kind of cooling system (intercooler) on a trask, or other turbo (I guess maybe some of them have it), I don't want to risk running the turbo. I go on rides through the hot desert/high desert when I'm over 100mph for hours on end. Best case it sounds like I'd be running 5-6psi the whole time... I would guess more... sounds like on flate terrian the trasks are running about 2psi for your typical 70-80mph cruise...

Turbos sound like they are great for the track and around town, but for now I need my bike to do all things.... without melting the engine.

There's one in my futare, just not yet.

Those have been out for a while, and I'm afraid they haven't been real impressive. If you plan on having a show bike, that you never ride, go for it. If you'd like to ride your V-Rod, forget it.

Before Vance and Hines got distribition rights for this unit, it was being tested by another big name in AHDRA. They found that it just doesn't make any power above about 145HP.

They put it on a bike with a 1550 Big Bore that was putting out 160HP at the rear wheel naturally aspirated. When they put the sprintex unit on it, they couldn't get it above 145HP on the same dyno. It just didn't flow well enough to keep up for the air needs for the motor.

Add that to the fact that Vance and Hines was having so much trouble with that unit, they stopped selling them, and subsiquently, Sprintex and Vance and Hines went their separate ways.

There are better systems with a proven track record if you're looking for power. In my opinion.

rjrivero - Thanks for the tip but my V-Rod is an 05 with the ignition key next to the fuel tank so the air cleaner is no problem.

Herr Monk - I'm where you are going to be. I have my 05 VRSCB and 07 FLHTC. One is for fun and the other is for trips The only reason I purchased the turbo is to get the biggest bang for the buck and some bragging rights in my community. I believe I will have the only V-Rod with a turbo in my community Without a turbo, to get the same horse power increase from what I have now would cost about the same but a whole lot more work My V-Rod is stock, I have installed the Power Commander, Rineharts duals and K&N air cleaner. I've never dyno'd the bike but I would guess I'm somewhere around 107 hp to the rear wheel. I'm not too worried about the innercooler asit is set up from Trask at maximum boost of 8 psi. But,at a future date I will plumb in the cooling system before next season. Right now, I won't be running her hard. I've got to get used to theextra ponies, taking little steps at a time until I understand how the bike handles. I've never had a bike with a turbo on itso I don't know the feel yet.

The turbo will give me another 60 ponies which figures out to $83 per hp upgrade. I'm going to change out the handle bars as I have never liked the stock gauges on the V-Rod. At my age, my eyes aren't what they used to be and the tach is too small for me to read. I'm going to 1 1/4 t-bars, 5 inch procycle tach (10k rpm) with shift lightand the5000 series Dakota speedo setup. Once I get the turbo, bars and gauges installed then I'm going with the Pingle electric shift kit. That will just about do it for this season. I'll post pic's when I'm done with the bike. The turbo is a week out before I get it. I figure about two days to install everything.

Next season I want to upgrade the rear end to a wider tire and put in a couple other gauges from Dakota. I will run the cyclinder head temp gauges for both front and rear and a oil gauge. I'll be installing a water/alcohol injection system which should give me another 40 ponies. My goal is to take the bike down to Bonneville in two years and see what she will do in the "run what you brung" class By then I'll be 57 yrs old and if I can get the scoot to hit the 200 mph mark, I'll be happy. It won't be easy getting there but heck, that's what goals are all about.

My Trask is ordered, I am waiting for a tracking number. I looked at the Aerocharger system they quote some big numbers but never posted any dyno sheets. Anybody can claim 170 rwhp. Trask got my money.

Hello all! I have the Trask system that I bought from a group by at 1130cc and have over 6,000 miles on the turbo and 12,000 on the bike. I just was over at the site and see Max has posted good news on the intercooler from trask is READY!!!I love the beast and she has dyno runs @ 168.8 rwhp/108.94 ft lbs tq!! I run in the 10's @ 130 plus mph. With a an airshifter and some practice i feel i could do a high 9sec run.
