Default Going with Turbo

I think I have settled on installing a Trask Turbo on my DX. I did not like the look at first but it has been growing on me the past couple of months. I have been reading all I can on them and it seems to be a very good set up. Ill post pics when I get that far.

If you have not bought the Trask you ought to check out www.boostisgood.com They have a system that uses any type of slip-on VRSC exhaust so you're not limited on the exhaust you run with the turbo.

Thanks for the info, that looks good, but there is not much info on it. I do like the idea of using different exhaust systems, but that system with a exhaust system ( I still have my stock exhaust) would cost 2 grand more than a trask. I also want it all in black, and the trask kit has that. I will call them and talk to them for more info.

You can get the Turbo Connections in black as well, the first picture you see is a 2008 DX with a black system. There are also other things that make the system different, and some would argue better, than the Trask Turbo. I'm not telling you that you HAVE TO go this route (other people do that) but I just wanted to throw it out there as an option in case you hadn't seen it. From what I've seen and readit's a well built system for both air-cooled and VRSCs.

There is a reason that no major manufacture has ever used the aerocharger in production. Do your homework, all turbo chargers are not alike. Usually a google search for bearing failures with aerochargers or you can search aerocharger out of business or support and produce some interesting information. RCC and Trask both use Garrett turbo chargers, Garrett is used by every major automotive and truck manufacture for a reason.

Thats what I have come up with so far. I always like to keep my options open and I like finding out about other products out there. There just seems to be so much info on the trask, and for the most part everything I have read has been good.
There are also alot of guys running these on the 1130cc forums and some with high miles with no problems. I want reliability and the Trask seems to fit the bill so far.

FYI

i have installed 6 Aerocharger kits during the mid and late 90"s. i am still running 2 of them on a 95 and 94 Ultras with a combined 90,000 miles with no problems running 6-10 psi boost. they haveboth served double duty pulling sidecars and single and 2 up riding. the 94 Ultra has over 40,000 miles pulling a sidecar and trailer all on touring trips with my wife and 2 daughters. i usually run consistently 3-6 pounds of boost cruising 55-75 MPH for hundreds of miles like my Sturgis trips from New York. the original Aerocharger company had difficulty in the early 2000 era and were out of business.they were located only 10 miles from me so i was a frequent visitor. the company has been reborn and the Turbos are being manufactured out of the Kansas City area and Turboconnection in Rapid City is a current dealer. check it out at boostisgood.com. In my opinion knowing what i know about the Aerocharger turbo and the installation it ismy system of choice now that they are back in business.

i need to clarify that the company in Kansas City Hiper Turbo is the Aerocharger Turbo manufaturer and is not involved in the turbo kits themselves. Turboconnection in Rapid Cityisthe dealer for the Hiper Turbo Aerochargerand designs the kit's that use the Hiper TurboAerocharger turbo they advertise and install.
